DSL Quick Start, for New DSL Subsribers
Here's a set of instructions to help you set-up your Actiontec modem and your Earthnet DSL connection.
These instructions involve using the Actiontec Installation CD-Rom, but you can also install your modem without the CD-Rom, by following this set of instructions: manual setup.

1 - UNPACK AND CONNECT YOUR MODEM TO YOUR COMPUTER
The Actiontec modem comes with a full set of very detailled and straightforward instructions. Insert the installation CD-Rom, and follow the instructions on how to connect your modem to your computer.
Make sure you connect your modem via ETHERNET. Do NOT use the USB connection (if possible).
The Actiontec Installation Buddy will guide you through the process of physically connecting your modem to your computer (plug the power cord in, then the yellow Ethernet cable, and finally the green phone cord).
Follow the instructions on how to INSTALL THE DSL PHONE FILTERS.
2 - SETTING UP THE DSL CONNECTION
After connecting the modem and installing the DSL phone filters, you need to configure the connection.
The "step 1" of the Installation Buddy (section "Setting up the DSL connection") asks you to choose between "MSN" or "Other ISP". Choose Other ISP, and go to "step 4".
You are asked to choose the ISP protocol. Select PPPoA and click next.
When you reach "step 5", do not proceed any further, and call Earthnet at 303.546.6362. You will need to create an account with us, and we will guide you through the rest of the process.
3 - CALL EARTHNET TO SET-UP AN ACCOUNT
The lights on the front panel of your modem should be like this (if you're a new Earthnet Customer):
- Power: GREEN, STEADY
- DSL: GREEN, STEADY
- Internet: RED (or not lit)
- Ethernet: GREEN, STEADY
In order to configure your modem, you will need to set up an account with us, and we will create a username and password for you.
Once you are on the phone with one of our Technical Support Representatives, you will be asked to provide the following information: first name, last name, company name (if applicable), address, phone number(s), a contact e-mail address if you already have one, and your billing information.
You will also need to CHOOSE a USERNAME and a PASSWORD.
The username will be the first part of your e-mail address. It cannot contain any ponctuation mark or special character. For example, if your pick the username jsmith, your email address will be firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your password should be at least 8 characters long (for security reasons), and should contain letters, numbers, and special characters. We can help you create a solid password if you need.
At this point, you can pick up the phone and call Earthnet at this number: 303.546.6362.
We will enter your information in our database, create your account, set your username and password. We will then enter this information on our routers. Once your account is created, we will walk you through the configuration of your modem.
4 - CONFIGURE YOUR MODEM
Go back to the Installation Buddy, you should still be on the "step 5" window.
Enter your newly created username and password in the appropriate boxes, and make sure the box that says "My ISP does not require this information" is NOT checked, then click Next.
In the next screen, check "DYNAMIC IP (DHCP)" (unless you specifically requested a Static IP with Earthnet), then click Next.
The installation buddy will check the configuration. A congratulations screen should appear after a couple of seconds. Your modem is now successfully configured. Click next and exit the Installation Buddy.
5 - ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATION
Our Technical Support Representative will now guide you through a set of advanced configuration, to make sure that your configuration is optimal.

For your convenience, here's a text-only summary of the different steps:
- Type in 192.168.0.1 in your internet browser;
- Click "Setup/Configuration";
- Click "Non-Windows Setup" on the left side;
- Scroll down to ISP Protocol, select PPPoA and type in your username and password;
- Scroll down to IP Configuration and select Dynamic;
- Scroll down to DNS Configuration, select Static, and enter 18.104.22.168 in the Primary DNS box, then 22.214.171.124 in the Secondary DNS box;
- Click "Save and Restart", then, again "Save and Restart".
